The app of the German Sport & Olympia Museum is the digital companion through 2,500 years of sports history. It offers an exciting and emotional journey through time from antiquity to modern times, where unforgettable highlights, outstanding athletes, triumphant victories and even bitter defeats can be experienced first-hand.The app provides all the information for the visit - from opening hours to directions and ticket prices to current special exhibitions and events.Presented by Wolf-Dieter Poschmann, the longtime moderator of the current sports studio on ZDF, the app highlights different topics:    • Ancient athleticism    • German gymnastics    • English sports    • First modern Olympic Games, 1896    • womens sport    • Olympic Games, Berlin 1936    • long jump    • Armin Hary: The fastest man in the world    • The miracle of Bern    • Max Schmeling    • Olympic Games, Munich 1972    • Tennis    • winter sports    • Paralympic GamesHow does the app work? The app is based on the IBeacon technology. An IBeacon is a small Bluetooth radio transmitter that automatically connects to the smartphone. In the exhibition there are a total of 60 IBeacons, if you come close to an IBeacon, this triggers independently new content in the app. All locations of the IBeacons are recorded on an overview map, but striking stickers also draw attention to the individual stations.quizAt the end of the tour it is possible to complete a challenge. The challenge is to find eight objects in the permanent exhibition. Again, the IBeacon is used. With headphones in the museumThe use of the app via the device speaker of the smartphone is limited (reduced volume), so headphones are needed. If no own headphones are carried, it is possible to purchase them at the museum cash desk for € 1.00.
